 Word Clouds

Today we will:
  • create word clouds on various web sites 
  • identify ways in which word clouds can be utilize in a school setting and in your personal life
  • Identify websites that allow you to create word clouds
  • Create word clouds in the form of shapes, initials.
  • Export word clouds - explore where you can export your word clouds.
  • Add word clouds to blog.
Please post your virtual world summary by Friday, link and picture to Our Web Tools blog.

You should find a post title Virtual Worlds - if yours is already taken - then you can add to the description.
REMEMBER only one can edit the post at a time.

ASSIGNMENT 1

Create a word cloud on Wordle - about Social Media - describing what you  have learned
  • Make Social Media - stand out
  • Type words that you have been introduced so far this semester:  embed, link, post, blogger, etc.  
  • Take a screen shot and place it on your blog - as a post (picture only - you do not have to write about Wordle) you can if you would like.  You can also place your picture in the sidebar instead of as a post.  You can create and place as many Wordle's as you would like on your blog.

 ASSIGNMENT 2
  •  Create a post titled- Word Clouds - explain word clouds, purpose - fun/educational and give websites of which your audience could visit to create a word cloud.  Add pictures to make your post stand out!

Google Background

Customize your Google startup page by downloading your own picture.  Look at the bottom left hand side of Google and you will see Add Background Image.  Click and download picture.  You can also remove the picture.

TODAY'S TOPIC - IMAGE CHEF

Today you will:
  • post your virtual world information on our web tools blog.
  •  create word cloud on Image Chef and post it to your blog
  • explore Image Chef and customize items to share on your blog and with others
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Create a post - Image Chef - reflection - with several examples
    1. explain the tool, example, link and how someone could utilize this website.
  2. Create an account (optional - only needed if you want to save what you create)
  3. Send an e-card to a teacher or friend (optional)

      11:05 - 11:30 - Explore Meez - is there any other feature that is cool about Meez?

      Today you will visit each others chat room.  Utilize the Google chat feature to let one another know which room you are entering.  Please DO NOT enter any other room besides the ones that your classmates and yourself have created.


      Assignment

      I want you to explore the internet and find atleast one other virtual world.  Explore the virtual world and create a post about it on your blog.  What is good/bad about the site.  If you find something that you think others would benefit from knowing - post it on Our Web Toosl blog!

      Remember to add any bookmarks that you come across that is worth sharing with the Diigo group.

      • Revisit the three social networking websites and create a post about each one.
      • Explore other social bookmarking websites
       
      Please make sure that you have REMOVED any personal pictures from your blogs - plus your last names.

      Today's Assignment:

      I will be checking to see when the post was created when grading your assignment - so please utilize your time wisely.

      • a logo or screen shot of example - you can see my examples
      • highlight features - be very specific
      You may refer to my description to refresh your memory of each tool on our class blog - plus you can visit our class wiki and click on the link in the sidebar for more information (this information is not organized just notes of mine  - I just took notes over each tool.  So I could create a great wiki in the future.)   Also if you look under course topics covered on the wiki in the side bar - I list features of each tool.

      Assignment 2 

      There are many social bookmarking websites.  Below I have found other examples and websites that contain a list of social bookmarking sties.  Please explore other social bookmarking tools to see what else is out there and what they are all about.

      Create a post on your blog about the new social bookmarking tool.   Remember to include a link, picture and features of the tool.  Remember to include a link, picture and features of the tool.


      Also bookmark the sites and tag them as bookmarking.  Share them with the group on Diigo!

              • Please remove your last name from your blog.

              • Make sure ALL links work properly on your blog and wiki
